Halted in 2010 due to the turbolent political circumstances, Miss Egypt re-opened in 2014 for the first time after the Revolution.
In its first edition, Miss Egypt focused on promoting the too-often-forgotten beauties of the Egyptian tradition and culture from the Pharaohs' era till the present days.
The competition is also a step forward towards the "normality" people have been looking for, a voice for women’s right in a country often on the news for the brutality of events like the mass rapes during demonstrations, or the everyday sexual harassment women face in the streets of Egypt.
